In 2017, We Celebrated Our 25th Anniversary as a Congregation
In the spring of 1992, the National Association of Congregational Christian Churches, headquartered in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, came to The Reverend Kent Estler, our Founding Minister, and asked him if he’d be interested in starting a new Congregational Church in the Northern New Jersey area. Pilgrim Church was incorporated with the state of New Jersey on November 13, 1992.
In January, 1993, Pilgrim Church called the Reverend Dr. Kenyon J. Wildrick as its Senior Minister and The Reverend Virginia L. Scott, was called as the church’s associate minister in March of that year.
While worshipping in the public school system in Milburn/Short Hills, NJ for four and a half years, Pilgrim Church’s congregation and ministers worked arduously to find a location for a permanent sanctuary and in January, 1996, they purchased 5 and 1/3 acres of land at 105 Mountainview Road in Warren, NJ. Jon Rocker was hired as Pilgrim Church’s builder and ground was broken for a house of worship in November, 1996.
Pilgrim Church opened its doors for its first service of worship in October, 1997, and over the years so many wonderful people have stepped forward to join our founding members in this new venture of faith. 2012 marks the 20th anniversary of the church’s incorporation.
